Forward-looking Layout in Indonesia, Deepening Full Industrial Chain of Aluminum Development
In response to the Belt and Road Initiative and to accelerate global expansion, Nanshan has deepened international development cooperation with a long-term strategic vision.
In 2017, Nanshan Aluminium initiated its plan to build metallurgical-grade alumina project in Indonesia. After years of development, a modern industrial base integrating alumina production, power supply and port logistics has been established. Its subsidiary Nanshan Aluminium International has built thealumina project wilth annual designed capacity of 4 million tons in Bintan Island, being one of the largest alumina producers in Southeast Asia.

Leveraging Indonesia’s resource endowment and cost advantages, both Nanshan Aluminium and Nanshan Aluminium International have launched 250,000-ton electrolytic aluminium projects respectively, which are being constructed in phases. In the medium-to-long-term, the planned total capacity will reach 1 million tons. Upon completion, it will realize in-depth upstream and downstream industrial chain collaboration, forming a high-quality overseas development model featuring upstream resource security , midstream capacity expansion, downstream industrial extension and closed-loop supporting facilities.
Diversified Expansion & Coordinated Development of Multi-industry Clusters
Nanshan’s layout in Indonesia extends far beyond the aluminium sector. Centered on the Galang Batang Industrial Park, the Group has expanded into chemical and textile sectors, forming a multi-dimensional and coordinated industrial clusters.
Nanshan Aluminium is constructing projects with an annual capacoty of 200,000 tons of caustic soda and 165,000 tons of epichlorohydrin to further strengthen industrial synergy. The newly announced crude oil refinery project with daily capacity of 100,000 barrel by the Nanshan Group will supply raw materials directly to the electrolytic aluminium production within the park, building an internal closed-loop of refining for petroleum coke supply to aluminium smelting.

Meanwhile, Nanshan Fashion Sci-Tech’s planned high-end garment factory with an annual output of 160,000 sets is scheduled for completion and operation by the end of 2026. It will build an intelligent manufacturing hub covering Southeast Asia and Oceania, and introduce supporting enterprises to form a complete industrial ecosystem. Hengtong Logistics will empower the park’s logistics and port operation, improving overall supply chain efficiency.
Full-chain Ecosystem Takes Shape, Building a New Blueprint for Nanshan’s Expansion in Indonesia
With heavy industry as the foundation, light industry as extension and service industry as support, Nanshan starts from aluminum but goes beyond aluminium. A cross-sector, full-industry-chain ecosystem is taking root on Bintan Island.

Mr. Song Yinghao, Vice Chairman of Nanshan Group, stated that going forward, Nanshan will build an overseas benchmark in Indonesia featuring multi-industry coordination and linkage among multiple listed companies. The Group will continue to increase investment, enhance product added value and consolidate global competitiveness. With the oil refinery project filling the energy gaps, Nanshan will further strengthen its industrial cluster moat, optimize its overseas full industrial chain, and embark on a new journey of international development.
